Urban’s work appears regularly in The Tasmanian Times, The Independent Australia and The Australian Independent Media Network and recently The Guardian. In the latter three publications his writing appears under the name David Tyler.
Born in England, raised in New Zealand and an Australian resident since 1979 Urban Wronski grew up conflicted about his own national identity and continues to be deeply mistrustful of all nationalism, chauvinism, flags, politicians and everything else which divides and obscures our common humanity. He has always been enchanted by nature and by the extraordinary brilliance of ordinary men and women; the courage of their daily lives and the genius, the power and the poetry that is their vernacular.
Wronski is now a fulltime freelance writer who lives with his partner and editor Shay and their chooks, near the Grampians in rural Victoria and he counts himself the luckiest man alive. A former teacher of all ages and stages, from Tertiary to Primary, for nearly forty years, he enjoyed contesting the corporatisation of schooling to follow his own natural instinct for undifferentiated affection, approval, compassion and respect for the young.

I’m an ex-teacher (from a long time ago) so I can relate to your cynicism about bureaucratic systems.
Also a leftie for the same sorts of reasons.

David,
I have lost yours and Shay’s email addresses when my HD crashed.
I was wondering if you could return the Mr Gormsby DVD set that I sent some time ago.
Thanks

Great blog, looking forward to reading more; although, it would have been easier if I hadn’t had to guess your RSS feed.

I’ve often enough wondered where you got to and what you got up to. It took some google-sleuthing: after Bolac, I lost the trail somewhere near Rushworth, but somehow crossed it again in independent political commentary and the “addy”. Glad to see you’re still about, happy and well, for me to express some enduring gratitude. Cheers.

Rob, great to hear from you. Trust things are going well for you and your family. And that you are writing. You are a rare talent. I do a couple of days CRT but mostly writing, a weekly political roundup here and in a number of other online publications.
Your kind words greatly appreciated, thank you.
